The Freedom Party (PL), formerly known as the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI), is a social-democratic political party in Albania. It was founded on September 6, 2004, by Ilir Meta after his departure from the Socialist Party of Albania. On July 25, 2022, the party changed its name and symbols, becoming the Freedom Party.

The party has played an important role in Albanian politics, being part of governing coalitions with both major parties, the Socialist Party and the Democratic Party. In the 2005 parliamentary elections, the Freedom Party won five seats in the Albanian Parliament with 8.4% of the vote, while in the 2009 elections, it won four seats with 4.8% of the vote.

Currently, the party leader is Ilir Meta, who took over leadership after completing his term as President of the Republic in 2022. The party’s leadership structure includes figures such as Erisa Xhixho (Vice President), Edmond Haxhinasto (Chairman of the National Steering Committee), and Tedi Blushi (General Secretary).

The Party of Freedom is open to contributions from political figures, academics, and civil society, with the aim of accelerating Albania’s integration into Europe.
