Erion Veliaj and the attack on prosecutor Olsi Dado

The daily attacks on prosecutor Ols Dado are being made for “very logical” reasons! Do you remember May? When Erion Veliaj, the mayor of Tirana, came on stage, in front of SPAK and not only, and told us how professional, honest and independent the investigators and prosecutors who questioned him were? He even became a colleague with them and their great supporter:

“…Let’s not slander them, let’s not play the role of prosecutor and judge, because it is a serious institution and ultimately, an important investment for Albania,” he said, referring to the vocabulary of Meta and Berisha who “slandered” prosecutor Altin Dumani.

But, as if by magic, as soon as he was arrested, Veliaj had a “moment of reflection from the cell” and suddenly the prosecutors were no longer professional and honest! Who would have thought?! From a man who cursed Meta and Berisha, he turned into a small and ugly copy of them. What happened to Erion? Did he maybe get too caught up in the sun promoting himself?!

And, as happens in any well-thought-out scenario, Veliaj attacks Ols Dado! Not Altin Dumani, who is just as much a part of the dossier, but Dado. Well, that makes sense, doesn’t it? Dumani has the “right knowledge” or, even worse for Veliaj, he has the public’s trust. And Veliaj knows very well that attacking Dumani is like digging a hole for himself, which he usually lets others do for him.

And with what justification is he attacking Dado? Ah, because Dado had requested a building permit, which the Municipality (i.e., Veliaj himself) had approved, because it met the criteria. But now, this is Dado’s “big fault”! With Veliaj’s brilliant logic, prosecutors should follow the “old rules”: get a building permit, become a debtor, and then don’t dare press charges against your beloved mayor! Otherwise, here comes the political revenge with the “new renaissance rules”!

To make it even more interesting, Veliaj has launched a campaign to convince his militants that he has not committed any legal violation and that Dado’s attack on him is simply “personal”. Of course! Why deal with the facts, when we can make a propaganda spectacle, attacking the prosecutor and hoping that no one sees the evidence?!

But here’s the big question: why doesn’t Veliaj deal with Dumani, who is just as much a prosecutor as Dado? Ah, because I know that neither of them has imposed the security measure, but the Court. But what does that matter? When you can invent a beautiful fable to confuse the public!

And how ridiculous is it to attack Dado for the fact that he once wanted to be a violinist or was a notary?! Veliaj, what about you? Have you forgotten that you used to sell figs and do propaganda with G99? Or is that diploma from your university still a mystery to the public?

And, as a reminder, in the “dark” times of the old reform, prosecutors general appointed their friends, as happened with Ina Rama and Ols Dado. But Veliaj, as a champion of the new reform, did the same thing when he made Naureda Llagami a member of the High Judicial Council and president of this council! And now, he will “elect” her as a member of the Constitutional Court! Ah, yes, Veliaj is allowed everything, while the others are corrupt, right?

Ultimately, it would probably be better for Veliaj to gather some evidence to prove his innocence (although we know that this is quite difficult), instead of wasting his breath attacking just one prosecutor. Because, as they say, facts are stubborn and, sooner or later, even the most sophisticated propaganda will no longer be able to cover them up.
