In a society where social pressure, psychological fatigue and daily frustrations find fewer and fewer healthy outlets, it has become customary to project every evil onto the State Police. From traffic delays to conflicts between citizens, from fatal accidents to serious crimes, the first reaction of public opinion is almost instinctively: “Where are the police?” Or worse: “It’s the police’s fault.”
This type of reaction has become a harmful social reflex. Like a lightning rod that absorbs everything from the sky, the State Police has become a target for the anger, frustration, and emotional fractures of a society that often fails to cope with its own problems. We always look for the blame somewhere outside ourselves, and the police, clothed with the authority of the state, becomes the ideal figure for this collective projection.
Of course, no one claims that the police are perfect. Quite the contrary. There are well-known cases where the police have failed in ethics, professionalism, responsiveness, or human sensitivity. There are employees who abuse their duty, who violate the law they are called to protect, who behave with arrogance instead of the humility that uniforms require. But even this does not justify the total denigration of the institution. Because demanding improvement is one thing, blindly blaming is another.
The problems of Albanian society are deep and complex, such as lack of civic education, disrespect for rules, poor communication culture, lack of individual responsibility and often a certain tolerance for chaos. All of these were not created by the police, and cannot be solved by them alone. On the contrary, they face their consequences every day.
In this context, we must understand that the State Police is a structure that operates in real, often difficult conditions, with limited resources and under constant political, media and civic pressure. Instead of supporting it in improving, we too often ask it to be everything: judge, psychologist, firefighter, surveyor, engineer, mediator, traffic expert, responsive to every situation, and above all, without mistakes. While we ourselves do not respect the most basic rule.
A discouraged police officer, publicly ridiculed, unjustly accused for every incident, cannot be able to function with dedication and efficiency. Any police officer who goes to duty with the fear of being found guilty, whatever happens, cannot be a guarantor of safety for anyone. And this is not only a harm to the uniform, but to all of us.
We must raise our expectations of the police, but at the same time we must also increase respect. You cannot demand a modern, capable and responsible police force while prejudiced, lynched and considered as “servants of power” or “enemies of the citizen”. Because order is not one-sided, it is a collective product, and without mutual cooperation between the police and society, it cannot be guaranteed.
We must learn to share responsibility. To criticize with reason, not with anger. To judge with facts, not with uncontrolled emotions. To demand accountability with dignity, not with hatred. Because even the policeman himself, behind the uniform, is a citizen. He is the son or daughter of a family, he is a parent, he is a neighbor, he is part of this society, which suffers the same problems as any other citizen.
And if we want a better, more humane, fairer, and more capable police force, we cannot blame it for everything that goes wrong. On the contrary, we must challenge it with honest criticism, appreciate it when it acts professionally, and support it in its efforts to improve. Because only then will the State Police be a mirror of a growing society, not a lightning rod for our collective failures.

Në vazhdën e zhvillimit të tij profesional, Agim Basha ka ndjekur një sërë trajnimesh të specializuara brenda dhe jashtë vendit. Ai është trajnuar nga programe të mbështetura nga ICITAP (Programi Ndërkombëtar i Asistencës për Trajnimin në Hetimet Penale të Departamentit Amerikan të Drejtësisë), PAMECA (Asistenca e Bashkimit Evropian për Reformën në Sektorin e Sigurisë) dhe institucione të tjera ndërkombëtare të fushës së rendit dhe sigurisë. Aktualisht, në rolin e pedagogut, ai kontribuon në formimin profesional të brezave të rinj të oficerëve, duke sjellë në auditor përvojën e tij të gjatë dhe njohuritë e përfituara në nivel ndërkombëtar.
